What is this?
A dynamic yet meditative sitar player, J.J. Gregg performs improvised and pre-composed music. With over a decade of hands-on training in India, J.J. immerses western experimental and jazz music into the traditional world of the sitar.

Beer, wine, non-alchoholic beverages, and light snacks are available for purchase in the café.

At Artichoke, J.J. teams up with Seattle-based tabla player Ravi Albright, whose seasoned touch on the tabla combines with his metronomic control of rhythm to make his adept accompaniment sought after by many of the leading lights in Indian Classical music today. The duo puts on a soulful and rocking show, delighting the audience with their improvisations and playful back and forth on sitar and tabla.

Opening the show will be David Van Auken, a Portland-based American instrumental guitarist, who’s contemporary compositions extract from early acoustic country-blues traditions. J.J. & David will present a sneak peek into their new "collaboration for 24 strings."
