Singtime Frolics 2021

36th Annual Singtime Frolics weekend

March 26-28, 2021

Join us online for a Spring weekend of singing, jamming, learning and sharing at Portland FolkMusic Society's annual Singtime Frolics retreat.

The Singtime Committee is working now to plan and deliver Singtime Frolics in March, and we just don't think it will be safe enough by then for us all to get together in one place. So, we're going to "go virtual" this year: all of the events will be held online on the Zoom platform.

We know that an online event won't have the spontaneous harmonies, the walks along the Columbia River, the hugs and handshakes with old friends, the convivial meals, and the creative chaos that everyone appreciates. We will miss all that too.

On the other hand, being virtual has plenty of advantages: no travel costs, more visitors from around the world, and no charge! (We'll have a tip jar for those who would like to help out financially, but we won't have the usual fees.) In fact, online events can be pretty wonderful: everyone has a seat in the front row; you can step in and out of them, and tune an instrument, without bothering anyone else; and especially important, a lot of people can come to online events who just can't make it to a physical retreat.

We are working to capture as much of the traditional warmth and excitement of Singtime as we can, and we plan to have a full slate of workshops and guest artists. We will keep this page up to date, so check in as Singtime gets closer to find out about the program, volunteering to lead events and help with production, and information about how to register and connect.

See you soon, and in the meantime, stay safe and keep singing!

PS: A first call for volunteers: We won’t need volunteers to help with parking, meals, nametags, the auction, room choices, or bookkeeping. But we will need lots of volunteers to be room techies. If you are comfortable and competent with Zoom, and you are willing to commit to a few hours of orientation and being present in workshops and song circles and concerts, then please leave your name and any other info with Cecilia. Click here THANKS!
