About this event

Ukulele Summer Jam Series led by Avery Hill for Artichoke Community Music School at an off site location, $25 drop-in per session.

It's that time of year to gather outside and jam! Each week, we’ll circle up outdoors and play simple, 3- and 4-chord songs together, *without music*. Come at 6 pm with a beverage or finger food to share (optional), play at 6:30 pm. Each jam will feature songs from a different genre / theme:

August 1 - Cowpoke Songs
August 8 - The Blues

I know playing music off the paper feels most accessible to most folks. But when you take that visual stimulation away, you are allowing your ears to open up and your fingers to come alive, as these other senses start to compensate appropriately. Teaching and coaching folks on learning music by ear is one of my specialties, so I will be there for you every step of the way! Imagine yourself looking up and around and smiling at your fellow music makers! This is how music should be made :)

Each jam in this ‘Ukulele Jam Summer Series is a mixed-level jam for 'ukulele players of various learning styles and experience. I recommend it for players who are comfortable with:

playing songs in the key of C, and ready to integrate new keys into their repertoire
a basic strum pattern or two
taking risks to learning new things
