What is this?
River City Folk is an engaging mix of live performance, interview, and recordings. Hosted by veteran singer-songwriter Tom May, each program features a folk artist or group from across North America who performs live in the studio. Through Tom's interviews with the artists, and recordings that have influenced them, the listener is entertained by a unique perspective on the living tradition that is folk music.
Scheduled Tapings:
Jun 10 (Sat): Taping at Artichoke Music at 2 pm, featuring four gifted songwriter artists - each artist will play 4 songs and feature two recordings that have influenced them.
Darryl Purpose - a recent transplant to Oregon, Darryl has been an important presence in the acoustic music scene, touring nationally and
encouraging other writers, for more than 30 years. Moving, delicately crafted songs that get to the heart of the matter-we are so glad to have him here!
Avery Hill - Avery Hill has been a pivotal contributor to Artichoke Music, both artistically and otherwise, for more than a decade. Her songs
have the ring and staying power of anthems, and she has also toured across the US performing her memorable, accessible repertoire.
Adam Scramstad - Adam's roots are squarely in the blues tradition, but his composition and lyrics span the gamut of acoustic music expression.
Eloquent picking, a winning presentation, and some fine original country blues based material.
Tracy Rose Brown - Showcasing the stunning beauty of the Celtic Harp is Tracy's specialty, along with her lovely contralto voice. Both original and traditional songs are featured.
** All tapings begin at 2 pm - seats first come, first served. Admission free, but contributions to the Artists accepted. Snacks and Drinks available! **
You can listen on www.folkmusicnotebook.com on Saturday at 1 pm PST and again at 10 pm PST on Sunday.
