Board Candidates!

Hi Members.

The nominations are in, and it's time to vote for new board members of PFS!

As you may remember, we have four openings on the board, and... we have three candidates. 😬

No matter! Please vote. The photos and statements of your candidates are below, in alphabetical order. Below that is a button that takes you to the ballot. The voting is completely anonymous - we can't see who voted, or who they voted for.

Thank you!

ARIETTA WARD

I am blessed to be the eldest daughter of the late, legendary pianist, Janice Scroggins. She inspired and mentored and gave me confidence as an artist, songwriter and performer.

I began my musical journey as an original member of the famed Doo Doo Funk All Stars. Among the dear friends with whom I have shared the stage are late Obo Addy, Linda Hornbuckle, LaRhonda Steele, Ken DeRouchie, Tony Ozier, and Norman Sylvester. In addition, I have shared the stage with many local turned national and international stars including Liv Warfield and Esperanza Spalding, Thara Memory, Jarrod Lawson, Curtis Salgado, Lloyd Jones, Farnell Newton and far too many more to name.  They helped me to “work outside the box”.

My desire to serve on the board of the PFS is to share my passion to expand the definition of folk music.  I currently serve on the board of Artichoke Community Music.  Together, we are beginning to diversify music performed and taught at Artichoke. I challenge myself to be mindful of how I deliver my messages. When I open my mouth – I always hold that intent in the highest positive vibration possible. Artists are healers, music has healing power. Music is sacred.

STAN DAVIS

I have been the chair of the PFS Concert Committee for the past five years and on the PFS Board for four years. Using my background in project management and business, my goals are: to make the Concert Committee successful again in this post-Covid world; to continue evolving the PFS Strategic Plan; to foster connections with other acoustic music organizations; and to develop a long-term endowment for PFS.

TERRY MILLEY

Hello PFS members,

My name is Terry, and between 2020 and 2021, I formerly served as Treasurer on the PFS Board of Directors.

Since the current board Treasurer, Brian Warner, is moving to Arizona for six months out of the year, I am throwing my hat in the ring (once again) to serve PFS as Board Treasurer.

Professionally, I am a CPA that works with auditing small and medium sized nonprofit organizations.

Personally, I enjoy riding a bike built for two with my partner, Alan, RV travel, the beach, reading, good coffee and micro brews, music, movies, walking, and hanging out with my two grown up kids, my friends, and my grand kitties.

I am not a musical talent but definitely enjoy PFS folk music concerts, and occassionally, you will see Alan and I volunteering at the concerts (usually at the merchandise table).
