Artichoke Community Music online class led by Haley Johnsen, $100 for four classes.

This course teaches the basics of songwriting for any style of music. Students should be prepared to come to the workshop with a recording device, pen and paper, and an instrument (although not required!). We will also be using Laura Veirs' ‘Kaleidoscope Creativity Cards’ which provide fun prompts for getting a song started. Students may purchase these from her website (https://ravenmarchingband.com/products/creativity-cards) or I can provide the prompts with my set of cards.

In the end, my hope is that you’ll feel confident of your ability to take an idea and develop it into a complete song!

Rough Weekly Schedule:
Week 1: The Basics - Structures, different ways to start a song, having a clear message
Week 2: Intro to Kaleidescope Creativity Cards - assign cards, speed write
Week 3: Kaleidescope Creativity Cards - new song assignment to take home and work on
Week 4: Perform song for the class
