Local Lore is the hard-copy newsletter mailed to PFS members bi-monthly, in January, March, May, July, September, and November. It contains lots of great information about PFS sponsored events, other folk events in the Portland and neighboring areas, special articles, such as Joe Hickerson's column Joe's Jottings, member profiles, or a featured song.

To get your event in the Folk Calendar, send e-mail to the calendar editor. Text only; no images, please. Deadline for the calendar is the 8th day of each "even" month (February, April, June, August, October, December), to appear in the following month.
Send copy by e-mail to the Editor by the middle of the even month before it is to appear.
The Editor would prefer that text material be typed directly into the e-mail body without any formatting. Images should be sent as attachments. Please don't use a formatting program like MS Word, because its files are incompatable with the Editor's software, and may require a lot of time to reformat. The Editor proofreads every item and will insert formatting as needed. If you must use an editor, please use WordPad (MS) or TextEdit (Mac) and attach the material as RTF files only. Don't send PDF files except with the Editor's prior consent at Editor.
Material taken directly from a website should credit its source, for example, “Information in this article is from ________”. For original writing, please include your by-line.
