Portland Folklore Society

The society formerly known as "Portland Folklore Society" is now "doing business as" the Portland FolkMusic Society.

Why the change? Many members felt that "folklore" implied something old and tired: "Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore..." (from The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe)
